The news we deliver is exactly what people want. It doesn’t challenge their world view; it reinforces it. We are the ultimate enablers of confirmation bias, even if it means bending the truth or outright lying.

Sometimes, we want people to read our news because someone is paying us to promote a particular point of view. Other times, we create stories that attract eyeballs for advertising. Ultimately, we don’t care why people want us to spread our stories, as long as it pays. Some might fabricate news just to influence people, but we find that a bit weak. Lying for profit? Now that’s the real game.”
